Week 2 Recap

At the beginning of class I explained what a back channel is and then we set up the rules for our back channel. The back channel was created using CoveritLive. The opening activity had us watch two versions of the shift happens video. Students submitted answers in a google form and then replied to each other through the spreadsheet. We then explored social bookmarking and using wikis. I strongly urge you to install the diigo tools into your browser on your home computer. I also reviewed the assignments and locations to find them. To remind you there are two locations to find assignments: the class wiki (http://tu-istc301-sp11.wikispaces.com/)and the assignment link under blackboard. There is a folder called graded assignments. Individual weekly work is in its own folder in Course Assignments.

HW: For this week you should complete the following assignments:
1. Write your blog entry – this is an analysis of the back channel. You also need to find your blog buddies and comment on their technobiography posts.
2. Portfolio page – You should post to your individual wiki page a picture of yourself, brief bio and goals for the class.
3. Post your tech talk contribution.
4. Read in your textbook chapter 2. We will be using the information in chapters 1 and 2 for an in class activity.
5. As you find websites and do research you should post all links to your diigo account.
6. You should review the upcoming assignments – it is never too early to get started.
